  • Warren Coville

    Mr. Warren Coville is a retired photographer, portrait studio owner, and photo-finishing supplier.  After serving in the US Army as an aerial photographer during WWII, Mr. Coville spent the next four decades in the photography industry retiring in 1985 as CEO of Guardian Photo Division of Guardian Industries Corp. of which he was one of the founders.  In 1966 after two years of study while running his business interests, Mr. Coville earned an MBA from Michigan State University.

    Since retiring, Mr. Coville has pursued endeavors in the arts, philanthropy and sports.  He belongs to a group of investors who owned the Detroit Pistons basketball team from 1978 until 2011. Warren is Trustee Emeritus of the Detroit Institute of Arts, The Cranbrook Academy of Arts and The George Eastman International House of Photography.  Locally in Sarasota, Warren has served on the Board of the Jewish Family and Children’s Service and is currently a member of their Investment Committee.  He currently serves as an advisor to the Jewish Housing Council Foundation.

    Mr. Coville served as the chair of the Asolo Theater Company Endowment and Capital Campaign which followed six years as Chair of the FSU/Asolo Conservatory for Actor Training Student Scholarship Program in Sarasota and one year as Chairman of The Board of Directors of the Asolo Rep Theater. He also serves as President and Treasurer of the Coville Photographic Art Foundation.  The Coville’s philanthropic work has focused on encouraging Jewish education and heritage, helping disadvantaged youth obtain higher education, support of the Arts and on providing assisted-living housing for the elderly.  Mr. Coville is also the founder of the I Have a Dream Foundation—Detroit.  The Coville’s have funded a total of four foundations.  The Coville Apartments, founded in 1981, a division of the Jewish Apartments of Metropolitan Detroit was endowed by the Coville’s and houses 36 elderly Jewish residents the average age of which is over 88 years old.
